We Value and Protect Your Privacy

Privacy Statement

We value the privacy of our customers and of people who ask to be added to our mailing list. We do not sell or in any other way distribute to any outside organization the names or addresses or any other contact information of our customers, or of the people who ask to be added to our mailing list. Occasionally an attendee will request contact information for another attendee — this information is passed on to the requestor only when permission has been specifically provided by the person being contacted.

You will find links on our site to other Web pages that we believe might be of interest to our visitors. While we try to link only to sites that share our respect for your privacy, we are not responsible for the content or privacy policies in place at these other sites.

Your Visits to Our Web Site Are Kept Private

When you visit our Web site, we do not automatically collect any information that would identify you as an individual, such as your email ID. We do collect statistics that show which of our Web pages has been visited, and those statistics include the IP address of your host server. However, we cannot derive (and we do not wish to derive) any information from that IP address that would identify you uniquely or in any way allow us (or anyone else) to contact you based on your visit to our Web site. Only if you choose to give us your email ID and/or postal address, by asking to be added to our mailing list, do we retain any information about you or how to contact you.

About Our Mailing List

We maintain our own mailing list, which is comprised of people who have attended our conferences in the past and of people who have asked to be added to our mailing list. Usually in mid-summer we mail brochures describing the current year's conference to everyone on that mailing list, and later in the year we might mail a reminder that the conference date is drawing near.

About Unwanted Mailings from Us

If you have attended one of our conferences in the past, or have asked to be added to our mailing list, you will annually receive a brochure from us, and perhaps one or two other pieces of mail. If you do not wish to receive these mailings in the future, simply contact us and we will immediately remove you from our mailing list.

In addition to our own mailing list, each year we usually rent a mailing list from a third party, chosen because the members of that list are likely to be interested in a Java programming conference. We mail our brochures — and only our brochures — to the people on that list. As is typical for the use of rented mailing lists, we are prohibited from seeing any of the names and addresses on that mailing list; instead, the rented list is sent directly to an independent mailing house which uses the list to mail our brochures.

If you receive a brochure from us as a result of being on a rented mailing list, and do not wish to do so in the future, we urge you to contact any companies to whom you have sent software or hardware registration forms, magazine publishers, Web sites where you have registered to download software, Web sites from whom you have purchased items, etc. and ask them not to sell your name. We have no control over the names on such a list and will be unable to remove you from it ourselves.
